About Me
My name is Tobin Brooks and I am currently studying at West Texas A&M University. I am a Senior Music Education and Performance Major. I hope to one day teach in the area and perform for different ensembles around the state of Texas. My family is heavily involved in the music education world. My father is the director of the school of music at West Texas A&M University, and my mother teaches fifth and sixth grade music at Canyon Intermediate.
I was born in Amarillo, Texas to my mother, Melanie Brooks and my father, Dr. BJ Brooks. We moved around when I was little but settled in Canyon, Texas. I graduated from Canyon High School in 2020 and began my college journey at WTAMU.
At WT, I participated in many ensembles. I have been in the Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Chorale, FMC Church Choir, along with many small ensembles, and I have marched and been the drum major for the West Texas Buffalo Marching Band. During my college career, I had the opportunity to serve as a drum major with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps in the summers of 2022 and 2023. In 2024, I spent my summer on the Brass Staff for the Arsenal Drum and Bugle Corps, and had recently earned an instructor position for the Drum Major Leadership Academy (DMLA) earlier that year. I also began working as a Visual Designer for Happy High School in Happy, Texas. I have gained so much insight on the art of instrumental music through my time at West Texas A&M.
I currently reside in Canyon, Texas, and live with my two cats, Maya and Leia.
